~ ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE CHAMBER’S PRINCE WILLIAM VETERANS COUNCIL ~
SUPPORT OUR VETERANS…..RIDE 2 RECOVERY BIKE EVENT
On Memorial Day Monday, May 26, one of the most inspiring events you’ll probably ever see, will take place right here in Prince William County. Ride2Recovery is a bike tour with approximately 200 riders, many of them disabled and Wounded Warriors. Because many people are out of town, for the last 5 years there has been little support shown by the community. We hope to change that this year! We are encouraging residents of the county to show support by staging along the designated route and cheering on the riders as they struggle with the physical demands of the tour. Cheering, waving small American flags (it is Memorial Day, after all) and homemade signs boost the enthusiasm and determination of the participants to meet their challenging goal of finishing the ride.
The route for the Memorial Challenge will follow historical roads and re-live American history. It will leave Arlington Cemetery at approximately 8:00 am on Monday on its way to its final destination to Virginia Beach on June 1. Projected arrival time to hit Prince William is 1:00pm. The event ends with a USO-sponsored VIP concert and community event in Virginia Beach.
Please show your support by passing the word. Our goal is to have our county show the spirit and support of our veterans that they so deserve! If you or those in your neighborhood will be home this Memorial Day and are interested in staging an area to cheer our riders on, you can get additional information on the times and locations you can email: firstname.lastname@example.org .
